Understanding Stalking

Resources for Stalking Victims

  • ATVP’s Stalking Brochure provides information and resources pertaining to stalking.
  • If you are a victim of stalking, it can be critical to maintain a log of stalking-related incidents and behavior. The Stalking Incident and Behavior Log provided by the SPARC can help one track and maintain a log on information. This information can be especially helpful if one is or plans to engage for the civil or criminal justice system.
  • Provided in Spanish and English.
  • If you are a victim of stalking as a college student, it can be critical to maintain a log of stalking-related incidents and behavior. The Stalking Incident and Behavior Log for College Students provided by the SPARC can help one track and maintain a log of information. This information can be especially helpful if one is or plans to engage with the campus disciplinary system, the police, or are thinking about getting a protection order.

  • Stalkers can be unpredictable and dangerous. You have no control over the stalker’s behavior and are not responsible for what they do. However, it can be useful to think of steps you might take to keep yourself and loved ones safe. This process is called safety planning. Though, you can follow the guide below about to craft a safety plan on your own, it is often helpful to work with an advocate here at ATVP to create a more personalized safety plan.

Supporting Friends or Loved Ones Experiencing Stalking:

Most victims of stalking talk to a friend, family member, or someone else they know and trust about the situation before pursuing any sort of professional or legal help. If a stalking victim talks to you, your response makes a huge difference in if they feel validated and/or seek help.
