So What IS a Community Prevention Team?

ATVP's community prevention team (CPT) is a group of educators, community partners, advocates, and teens all joining together with the goal of preventing gender- and power-based violence/abuse before it happens.

Idaho is one of only 10 states chosen by the CDC to participate in this leading edge effort to prevent interpersonal abuse, sexual assault, and other forms of power- and gender-based violence. For a full description of the nation-wide project, check out the CDC website.

Locally our efforts at prevention are based around concepts of gender equity and respect. Our community prevention team has a strong working relationship with the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual & Domestic Violence, and we are working with them and other project sites in Idaho to create a gender revolution - that is to say, we want youth and teens to be able to be their truest selves, regardless of gender or gender-expectations.
